ABOUT ME

Brianne Ledda is a reporter at Newsday on Long Island, where she has covered the Town of Islip since 2022. She previously reported on the North Fork for The Suffolk Times and Riverhead News Review. She's a Stony Brook University alumna ('21), where she graduated summa cum laude from the Honors College with a B.A. in journalism and minors in history and environmental studies. At Stony Brook, she was the editor-in-chief at her campus newspaper, The Statesman, where she guided the publication through a digital-first transition during the pandemic. In her time at the paper, she also served as staff writer, assistant news editor and was the news editor when COVID-19 broke out in March 2020. Brianne was a member of the Student Journalism Advisory Board and president of the Stony Brook University chapter of the Society for Professional Journalists, which she helped revive in her final year on campus. In the past, she's held internships at WSHU Public Radio, Royal Media via the Dow Jones News Fund and the Fire Island Chronicle. Her work has been recognized by several leading media organizations, including the Edward R. Murrow Awards, Hearst Journalism Awards, New York Press Association and Press Club of Long Island.
